JAMMU, Sept 13: Pradesh Congress today paid tributes to former MP and veteran Congress leader Janak Raj Gupta on his first death anniversary at PCC headquarters here today.
A function in this connection was organized at Congress office, Shahidi Chowk here today. It was presided over by PCC president GA Mir while senior functionaries of PCC, DCC Jammu Urban, different blocks and other prominent leaders attended the programme. It was organized by the DCC Jammu Urban unit, led by Anil Chopra.
Prominent among those who attended included Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Yogesh Sawhney, Ravinder Sharma, SS Channi, Manmohan Singh, Vikram Malhotra, GL Chalotra, Indu Pawar- president Mahila Congress, Shiv Dev Singh, Vicky Mahajan, KL Gupta, Neeraj Gupta, Thomas Khoker, Manjeet Singh Jatt and Sahil Mahajan.
The speakers paid rich tributes to Late Janak Raj Gupta for his relentless service to the society and the Congress party throughout his life.
While paying tributes to Late Gupta, PCC chief recalled his contributions to the people of the State in different capacities during his long spell in public life. Mir described him a true Congressman who firmly believed in the principles and basic ideology of the Congress party and played a vital role in the politics. He said Mr Gupta always tried to help everyone who approached him, irrespective of caste, creed or colour.
Sham Lal Sharma while paying tributes to Late Gupta described him a man of great qualities, especially patience and tolerance. He played an important role in the politics and party at all times and was widely respected amongst party cadres. He offered his assembly seat of RS Pura to Mufti Mohd Sayeed, who won from there on congress mandate.
Raman Bhalla also paid tributes to Late Gupta and lauded his services to the party and people of the State throughout his life. He said Late Gupta was a pillar of the party and would be remembered for his services.
Prominent among those who attended the function included Dr RK Khajuria, Madan Lal Malagar, PS Chouhan, Jyoti Vaid, Gourav Chopra, Rachpal Singh, Naresh Maini , Sanjeev Luthra, RS, Sunil Kumar, Parshotam Mehra, JL Koul, Cameres David, Bharat Bushan, Parveen Singh, Gautam Choudhary, Manohar Lal Sharma, Kirti Gupta and Dr Vijay Sharma.
