Cong questions different norms for Covid in Kashmir, Jammu

Jammu, Aug 17: Expressing dismay and resentment over different norms being followed by the UT Administration in Kashmir and Jammu region besides from one district to another in Jammu province too, with regard to quarantine measures of Covid cases, JKPCC has asked the Lt Governor to look into the matter and issue directions for following uniform system.
Chief spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Ravinder Sharma expressed strong resentment over different norms and yardsticks being followed for same set of covid cases, as in Kashmir region, the asymptomatic cases are home quarantined but in Jammu region, the administration is putting people in quarantine centres, which are mostly ill managed. Anyone raising voice is further harassed to create fear amongst the others.
He further said that after first positive test, no second test is taken for ten days and only in case of negative results, they are sent for home quarantine. Not only this, he said that different norms are followed in different districts of Jammu. He cited the case of two belt force persons , who arrived in Jammu on August 6 and were got samples for tests same day.
They were reported positive on August 8 and were quarantined in the Q – Centres in respective districts, the one in Jammu was quarantined on Aug 9 and after another test was sent home on Aug 16 while that in Rajouri, was quarantined on, Aug 8, despite being asymptomatic but still waiting for second test to be done after ten days, as per norms followed in Rajouri district.
Is it not strange that one who was quarantined a day later was got tested again and sent home but the one who was quarantined a day earlier, is still waiting for the second test.
Why two set of norms for Kashmir and Jammu regions for same set of cases and again why different set of norms In different districts with in Jammu region?
The people suspect some vested interest in following such a unique procedure which has apparently no justification but the authorities are tight lipped about different yardsticks in vogue for same category of suspected patients.
It is a different matter that high profile patients receive a high degree of care and hospital of their status and choice while the common man, with howsoever high risk factor he or she may have, is treated like a criminal and forcibly taken to the quarantine Centre of the choice of the authorities concerned, with patient given hardly any choice of paid facilities too. JKPCC leader regretted. The Govt also hold inquiry into the utilisation of money on Covid measures.
