JAMMU, Mar 4: Pradesh Congress Committee will elect Legislature Party leader amongst the 12 elected MLAs in a meeting being held here tomorrow.
Party sources said that All India Congress Committee (AICC) president, Sonia Gandhi has deputed two Central observers AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, BK Hari Parsad and AICC secretary and incharge J&K affairs of the party, Main-ul-Haque for the conduct of the CLP leader’s election. Mr Haque reached here from Delhi this afternoon while newly elected PCC president, G A Mir is already here for the purpose.
Sources said that Mr Parsad is likely to reach here from Delhi tomorrow morning and the election meeting will start at 11.30 am in a local hotel here. Former Ministers and MLAs for the third term, Nawang Rigzin Jora from Leh, Ghulam Mohd Saroori from Inderwal (Kishtwar) and Ajaz Ahmed Khan from Gool-Arnas are said to be the front runners for the post.
Out of the total 12 MLAs of Congress party this time, four are from Kashmir region, three from Ladakh and five from Jammu region. Rigzin Jora is MLA from Leh Assembly constituency, Deldan Namgial from Nobra and Asgar Ali Karbalaie from Kargil of Ladakh region; Abdul Rashid Dar from Sopore, Usman Abdul Majid from Bandipora, Mohd Amin Bhat from Devsar and Gulzar Ahmed Wani from Shangus- all Kashmir region; Ghulam Mohd Saroori from Inderwal, Vikar Rasool Wani from Banihal, Mumtaz Ahmed from Gulabgarh, Ajaz Ahmed Khan from Gool-Arnas and Ch Mohd Akram from Surankote-all from Jammu region.
