JAMMU, Aug 26: Fearing of people withdrawing support, Congress party adopted a new idea to befool people by staging fake protest demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act in J&K.
This was stated by Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP National Executive member and chief spokesperson during a press conference.
Dr Singh said that Congress party takes credit that its former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had initiated 73rd and 74th Amendments and these amendments are a part of Congress party election manifesto.
“Congress party is protesting and demanding the implementation of these Acts, how they can justify this”, he questioned.
“Congress leaders feel that people are moving away from Congress party because of allegations of corruption, scams and land encroachments against its Ministers, they have resorted to the drama of staging fake opposition protests demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments”, he alleged.
Dr Jitendra Singh said if the Congress leadership is honest about its intentions, then the party should immediately withdraw from the Coalition Government, its Ministers should immediately resign from the Council of Ministers and its leaders and workers should join hands with BJP to launch a joint agitation against National Conference-led Government and its anti people policies.
Among others present were State general secretary Sat Sharma and State press secretary Balbir Ram.
