JAMMU, July 16: Senior BJP leader and former State president of the Party, Ashok Khajuria today warned the Congress party against misleading the people of Jammu region for its vested political interests.
In a statement issued here, Khajuria ridiculed the Congress for shedding crocodile tears on the plight of the people living along International Border (IB) in Jammu region and alleged that during their over five decades rule at Centre and as well as in J&K either independently or in coalition with NC and PDP they never think it proper to end the discrimination with the people living along IB who were not given the benefits of reservation as was given to people living on Line of Control (LoC) for obvious reasons.
Khajuria said it was the BJP Government led by Narendra Modi at Centre and with the efforts of the party leadership in J&K especially with the three party MPs including MoS in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh who strongly pursued this genuine issue with Union Government and got this decades old discrimination ended with the hapless people living across the IB.
He said though there has been some delay in notifying the areas to be brought under the reservation quota at par with LOC people due to some extra ordinary problems created by lockdown and restrictions which there upon were imposed to minimize the effect of COVID Pandemic.
Khajuria, while reiterating the BJP’s resolve to get this discrimination ended said the party has already taken up the issue with UT Government and he expressed the hope that process will start soon. He said had Congress and some Jammu based leaders of NC and PDP concerned for the rights of IB people they should have taken up the issue forcefully during their Governments and provided justice to these hapless people.
He said these parties not only discriminated with IB people but even the West Pak refugees were subjected to greatest injustice during seven decades and never Congress bothered to give justice to these people by granting citizenship rights to them. Moreover the PoJK refugees were not considered for the compensation of their left over properties etc and it was only the Narendra Modi Government or earlier BJP Government led by Atal Behari Vajpayee which tried to sort out the problems of these refugees as BJP is committed to welfare of these categories of refugees who have met a catastrophe during the partition of the country and were forced to migrate from West Pakistan and areas of J&K forcefully occupied by Pakistan.
