UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: A number of Congress activists under the leadership of senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra staged a strong demonstration against Government of India and UT administration for their failure on all fronts.
Congress activists raised slogans the Government and also blocked road towards Court Road from Salathia Chowk for few hours. They were particularly agitated over hike in OPD registration fee and rates of LPG cylinder. The demonstration was held at Salathia Chowk Udhampur.
While addressing the gathering, Sumeet Magotra criticized Union Government for hike in price of LPG up to Rs 150 per cylinder. He alleged that the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was adopting anti people policies, particularly against poor and middle class people. “During UPA regime, Smiriti Irani used to lambast the Government whenever LPG cylinder was slightly hiked but why she is mum now?” he asked.
Sumeet Magotra also criticized LG administration in J&K UT for increasing OPD registration fee from Rs 5 to Rs 10 in hospitals and said that it shall directly affect the poor patients. “BJP was voted for “Achhey Din ” but people are still waiting for those good days,” he said and demanded immediate rollback of hike in OPD registration fee as well as rates of LPG cylinder.
NSUI District President Shivam Sharma, District Youth Congress Vice President Tirth Ram, Sanjay Chowdhary, Vikas Khajuria, Sham Bansal, Rjesh Kala, Meenu Sharma, Shubam Chowdhary, Babi Kumar, Vishal Kumar and Vikrant Singh also participated in the demonstration.
