JAMMU, May 17: On 93rd day of their ongoing hunger strike, the agitating Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today held a protest demonstration blindfolded for symbolizing alleged blindness of the State Government towards their demand and grievances.
After putting black ribbon on their eyes, the protesting Lecturers raised slogans against the State Government and alleged that all the ministers of State Government had turned a blind eye towards their genuine demand.
These agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Adhoc, Contractual and Consolidated employees after seven years of their service.
While addressing media persons on the occasion of protest demonstration, one of the agitating Contractual Lecturers, Balvinder Kour said that they were protesting blindfolded to convey that the incumbent State Government was deaf, dumb and blind.
“We have been protesting for the last 93 days and observing hunger strike but this Government has turned a deaf ear and blind eye towards our plights. We openly challenge the Government to come across the table and prove that our demand is not genuine but they never listen to our issues and demands,” she said and added that in order to awaken the Government from its deep slumber, agitating Contractual Lecturers will now beat drums.
The protest demonstration was addressed by several Contractual Lecturers, who justified their demand of regularization and explained that they were contractual vide order no.1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD, according to which all the Contractual Lecturers are to be continued till further order and their regularization.
