JAMMU, Dec 3: Deepika K Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, Himayat Mission Management Unit chaired a series of meetings to review the performance of projects sanctioned under Himayat, JKRLM to various Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs).
The meetings were held in the office of COO, Himayat, JKRLM at Jammu. During the meetings various aspects of the scheme were reviewed such as achievement of targets, establishment of training centres, mobilization of candidates, commencement of skill trainings and placement of candidates.
Himayat (DDUGKY) is a flagship placement linked skill development initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), GoI for unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir with focus on school and college drop-outs. The special emphasis is on placements of youth in a befitting manner commensurate with the level of education and their aspirations. Both urban and rural Youth in the age group of 15-35 years irrespective of their socio-economic status are eligible under the scheme. The training is provided in various sectors such as Healthcare, Banking and Finance, Retail, Hospitality, IT, Apparel, Security, Beauty & Wellness etc.
The training includes computer-oriented skills, soft skills and English communication skills, as well as the technical skills needed for a particular job. Under the umbrella of DDU-GKY, MoRD, GoI, Himayat has been entrusted the mission of skilling of over 1.42 lac youth from across the UT in PPP mode.
Chief Operating Officer emphasized on organizing mobilization programmes in far flung areas, ensuring optimum utilization of training centre capacity and improving quality of training. She stressed on ensuring commencement of skill training and subsequent placement of youth as per the timelines of the scheme. PIAs were asked to explore avenues with respect to convergence with various departments for mobilization, training and employment of youth.
All State Project Managers along with other officials of Himayat Mission Management Unit, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Senior representatives of various Project Implementing Agencies attended the meeting.
