Cop operating drugs trafficking racket from cross LoC arrested

JAMMU, Aug 28: Continuing its mission to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a cop operating a drugs trafficking racket from cross LoC along with Pakistan smuggled 20 grams heroin worth Rs 8 lakh in the international market.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka near Valmiki Chowk and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
Instead of stopping, the pedestrian escaped from the spot into a by lane. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 20 grams Pakistan smuggled heroin valuing Rs 8 lakh in the international market from the possession of pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Nisar Ahmed, son of Wali Mohammad, a resident of Chagoora Pulwama. The accused was presently posted as Selection grade Constable (SgCt) in 7th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police stationed at Channi Himmat Jammu.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Kashmir, which was pumped in from Pakistan side for selling among the youth in District Jammu and its adjoining areas and districts.
With his arrest, police not only smashed the drug trafficking racket operating from cross LoC, but also saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 196/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started to arrest other members of the racket.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Rohit Bhagat made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
