Copper futures fall 0.31 pc on global cues, subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Nov 18:  Amid weak overseas cues and subdued domestic demand, copper prices fell by 0.31 per cent to Rs 439.70 per kg in futures trade today on speculators reducing their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November fell by Rs 1.35, or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 439.70 per kg in business turnover of 661 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February next year traded lower by Rs 1.30, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 451.70 per kg in 81 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to subdued domestic demand and weak trend overseas as spending growth on China’s power plants and electricity grid slowed.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.40 per cent to USD 6,985.25 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange. (PTI)
