Couple gets engaged on stage at 98 Degrees concert

NEW YORK, Aug 22:  Boyband 98 Degrees hosted a surprise marriage proposal when they invited an audience member up onto the stage at a gig in New York this week.
At their Coney Island concert, they introduced one of their most famous ballads, “I Do” (Cherish You), telling a captive audience, “There’s one ballad that we’ve been known for all over the planet, everywhere we go, no matter what language they speak.”
The bandmates then invited a fan named Rosa to join them onstage and serenaded her, before launching into the song, with singer Nick Lachey teasing Rosa by saying, “I don’t see a ring on your finger, will you marry us?”
At the end of the song, Rosa’s boyfriend, Mike MCGinn – a DJ with local radio station 92.3 AMP – was introduced and he nervously gave a speech before asking his girlfriend if she would marry him. When Rosa excitedly answered yes, the crowd went wild, reported New York Post.
Astra, a radio colleague of Mike’s posted the heartwarming video on YouTube and shared the cute story of how the memorable proposal came together, revealing when he told her his girlfriend was a huge 98 Degrees fan, and band member Jeff Timmons was her crush, she approached the band with a view to giving the couple an experience of a lifetime.
98 Degrees, formed by brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Timmons, regrouped in 2012 after a nine-year hiatus.
They are now in the final stages of their MYK Tour.
In their heyday, the band sold more than 10 million albums and had eight Top 40 hits in the US, including “Thank God I Found You”, a collaboration with Mariah Carey. (PTI)
