Courses on New Criminal Laws, Ethics & Soft Skills begin at SKPA

UDHAMPUR, Mar 1: A 5-day course focusing on New Criminal Laws, and another 2-day program centered on Ethics and Soft Skills, began today at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur.
A total of 68 officers and officials from Constable to Inspector ranks of the J&K Police are actively participating in these courses.
The primary objective of the 5-day course is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the new criminal laws, emphasizing significant changes. The participants are being equipped with the necessary knowledge and understanding to address contemporary challenges in law enforcement. Interactive discussions are facilitating comparisons between old and new laws, enhancing comprehension and application.
An inaugural function took place at SKPA, with SSP Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Dy Director (Indoor), serving as the chief guest. He encouraged the participants to remain well-prepared for facing contemporary challenges in law enforcement. He also highlighted the comparisons between old and new laws. This initiative reaffirms SKPA’s commitment to providing comprehensive and relevant training to its personnel, he added.
Recognizing the importance of Ethics and Soft Skills for conflict resolution and trustworthiness, Mr Gupta said these skills are emphasized for effective community facilitation. As first responders in the criminal justice system, Soft Skills are crucial for police officers. Therefore, victims of crime should be attended to with patience and sympathy, treating them with compassion and respect as they seek justice, he explained.
The coordination of the 5-day course on New Criminal Laws is led by Amit Parkas Seghal, Sr PO SKPA, assisted by SI Subash Chander. The 2-day course on Ethics and Soft Skills is coordinated by Inspr Sandeep Mahajan, assisted by SI Sukhvir Singh.
