Court acquits juvenile in attempt to rape case

JAMMU, June 3: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar Tahir Khurshid Raina has acquitted juvenile in a case relating to an attempt to commit rape with minor.
“The Investigating Officer, who has probed this case, is on record to state that neither before this case nor thereafter he has been IO in any case. This speaks volumes about the standard of investigation being conducted in such serious cases and obviously the result will be failure of challan”, the court observed while acquitting the accused.
As per the prosecution case, on 18-082005 Police Station Panthachowk received a written complaint that on 16th August juvenile entered into the house of complainant situated at Balhama and caught hold of his minor child and forcibly tried to commit rape upon her. As child’s mother raised hue and cry juvenile fled from the spot.
During the course of investigation, the child victim was medically examined and the juvenile arrested. After completion of investigation, challan was presented in the court of law.
Vide order dated 21-09-2005 the juvenile was charged for the commission of offence under Sections 376/511/451 RPC.
