Duped money on ‘treatment of HIV’

JAMMU, Jan 4: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, YP Kotwal rejected the bail application of one Mohd Salman, son of Fahim-Ud- Din, from Islam Nagar, Lisari Gate Meerut UP, through his brother Imran, who duped innocent people on the name of treatment of HIV.
According to the Crime Branch, a written complaint was lodged by Shakuntla Devi, wife of Late Surinder Pal from Jourian, Tehsil Akhnoor Jammu with the Crime Branch Jammu alleging that her husband had died being HIV positive and she is also suffering from the said ailment. While watching TV (JK Action) she came across an advertisement regarding assured treatment of all problems including medical problem with a flashing telephone No. 91- 9759998308 as contact number of one Guru Kabir Bengali.
Being anxious to get herself cured fast, she made a contact on the above mentioned telephone number and the person responding from the other side calling himself as Guru Kabir Bengali assured her of treatment and in this regard, asked the complainant to deposit Rs 6000/- in account No.32818773044 of one Mohd Salman. She was again and again asked to transfer/ deposit different sums of amount on one pretext or the other in different account numbers which she deposited accordingly, however, later on she came to know that the accused persons had cheated her and duped her of her hard earned money amounting to Rs 9,34,100 it also reveals that complainant also died due to HIV positive.
1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu YP Kotwal after hearing APP Harminder Singh for the State whereas Adv Mohd Latief Malik for the applicant observed that in the present case, as noticed above, two namely Nawab Malik, son of Rashad Malik and Assh Ahmed alias Ashu is also called as Guru Kabir Bengali are still absconding and have not been apprehended/arrested till date, so, in my considered view in case the accused, who is resident of Meerut ( UP) will be admitted to bail, there is every possibility of his jumping over the bail and not turning up for purposes of investigation as well as facing trial of the case. Further more investigation of the case is at its infancy , release of the applicant on bail at this stage, will badly effect the investigation of the case.
