Court again restrains Council from holding election of Wrestling Association

SAMBA, June 9: In a suit filed by the Wrestling Association of Samba, the Court has restrained Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council from holding the elections of the recognized Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association on June 10, 2017.
The Sports Council vide its letter No: SC/473/1823-27 dated 07-06-2017 had asked Ranjit Kalra, Vice Chairman District Sports Council, Jammu to observe the elections of J&K Wrestling Association on June 10, 2017, in view of the Order dated: 29-05-2017 of Munsiff Katra, dismissing the earlier suit filed by Wrestling Association of Reasi.
However, in the suit filed by Wrestling Association of Samba, an affiliate unit of J&K Wrestling Association through its president Vijay Gupta, son of Krishan Lal Gupta, resident of Ward No- 6/8, Samba, before Additional Munsiff Samba, it has been submitted that J&K Wrestling Association has its own Constitution and as per its Constitution, the last election was conducted on 14-05-2013, which was held under the supervision of the observers from Wrestling Federation of India, J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
It was further submitted that for the conduct of the next election all the members of the Association are to be summoned according to the Constitution of J&K Wrestling Association and a prior six days clear notice has to be served upon all the members of the Association.
The Additional Munsiff Samba vide Order dated 09-06-2017 has restrained the defendants Ranjeet Kalra, son of late TR Kalra, resident of Channi Himmat, Jammu; J&K State Sports Council through its Secretary and Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council from holding the election of recognized J&K Wrestling Association.
