RAJOURI, Feb 11: J&K BJP General Secretary and former MLC Vibodh Gupta said that the Election Commission of India’s recent initiative on delimitation and creation of new Assembly seats was a historic milestone towards empowerment of marginalised areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He was addressing a function at Kallar in Rajouri, which was organised by the locals of ST community who reposed their faith in the leadership of PM Modi.
While addressing the gathering, Vibodh said that the ST communities of J&K were always ignored by past Governments who paid no attention towards their plight but instead used them as their vote banks. He highlighted the fact that it was only the leadership of PM Modi that today the Forest Rights Act has been implemented in the entire J&K. This act, he said, has given special rights to all the nomadic communities and now they are living much better and a dignified life. This, he said, in the long term will transform the lives of these people as well as their future generations.
While referring to the delimitation process, Vibodh said that for a long time people of different parts of J&K were treated differently and were never given proper representation. He welcomed the creation of new Assembly constituencies and said that this step has politically empowered all those poor and weaker sections of society which were never given due representation in the political process.
The function was also addressed by district president Rajouri Rajinder Gupta, who highlighted the Central Government schemes for the welfare of ST community and other poor and marginalised sections of the society. He said that it is up to the people of these communities to benefit from these large number of schemes. He said that BJP local leaders have a key role to ensure that benefits of these schemes must reach to all.
Prominent among others, who were present on the occasion, included, Sarpanch Babu Ram, Ex Sarpanch Vinod Sharma, Capt Ashok Kumar, Javid Ahmed, Mohd Sadiq, Bashir Ahmed, Rathan Lal, Prathim Singh and Shamshar Singh.
