RAMBAN, Dec 21: Fifteen day long Cricket tournament, organised by Army for local youth, concluded at NHPC Ground, here today.
A total of 24 teams from remote parts of the district participated in the event with full zeal and enthusiasm. The league matches were played on a round-robin basis. In the final match, Sumber Cricket Club emerged victorious while Famrote Warriors Sangaldan secured 2nd position. The winner and runner-up teams were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 25000 and Rs 15000 respectively, whereas cash prizes along with certificates and mementos were also given to other categories like man of the series, best fielder, most sixes and fair play.
The closing ceremony was graced by Narayan Singh, Sarpanch Tangar, Sadik Ahmed, Naib Sarpanch Tangar along with many other prominent members of the society.
The Civil administration Ramban and Indian Army has always worked hand in hand for maintaining peace, promoting sports, modern education, women empowerment and various other noble activities for development of the region.
The main motive of this cricket tournament was to encourage the youth to take up sports as a career and also to keep themselves away from drugs.
