SRINAGAR, July 7: Cricketer Irfan Pathan who played for Indian National Team today called on Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar. During the meeting, Irfan Pathan apprised the Advisor about the efforts to develop cricket in the state.
Special DGP V K Singh and the local cricketer of Kashmir, Parvez Rasool who also represented the Indian Cricket Team was also present on the occasion.
Pertinently the cricketer from Gujarat has been roped in by J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) for the initial one year term as mentor cum player.
The Advisor appreciated the efforts of Irfan Pathan in mentoring the local players. Youth of J&K has got the immense talent and need is to give them platform and chance to excel, he added.
K Vijay Kumar also lauds the role of former Indian Cricketer in unearthing the hidden talent by visiting the various districts of the State and further grooming them to improve their game. It was informed that he along with Parvez Rasool and other senior players have been holding coaching clinics in various parts of J&K.
On the occasion, both the players gave their suggestions and inputs to further develop the game of cricket in the State by providing the players every possible facility.
The Advisor assured the cricketers that the state government would provide all possible support for the development of the game and to get the hidden talent from small places of the State.
