14th J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament

SRINAGAR, July 5: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) drubbed Royal Football Club by five goals to two (5-2) to advance in the ongoing 14th J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department under Civic Action Programme, here.
In other three matches of the day, Safalo (A) trounced Novelty Blue by a solitary goal (1-0), District Football Association (DFA) Budgam thrashed Maharaja Sports Club by four goals to one (4-1) and District Football Association Ganderbal outplayed Arafat Football Club by two goals to one (2-1) in a hard fought match.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts including Nazir Ahmed, Nazir Sofi, Farooq Khan, Bilal Khan, Rakesh Kumar, Shabir Ahmed, M Ashraf, Hilal Ahmed, Sohan Kumar, Zahoor Khan, Riyaz Ahmed and Javed Ahmed.
Meanwhile, today’s matches among others were witnessed by Rouf-ul-Hassan, IGP Armed/IRP Kashmir, who happens to be the organizing secretary of the tournament, T Namgyal, DIG Armed Kashmir, SA Hamid, DIG IRP Kashmir, sheikh Mehboob, SSP PCR, Kashmir, Abdul Majeed Rather CO IRP 7th Bn, Mir Mohammad Chodhary, CO IRP 14th Bn, Altaf Ahmed Khan, CO JKAP 9 Bn, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, CO IRP 2nd Bn, MS Punoo, CO JKAP 12th Bn, besides SA Hamid, Tournament Director, Zamir Thakur, president JKFA, Fayaz Ahmed Sofi, treasurer JKFA and Prof BA Shah, resident secretary JKFA.
In tomorrow’s fixture, DFA Baramulla will lock horns with Jhelum Sports at 8 am at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar, Young Iqbal Football Club will face DFA Anantnag at 10 am at the same venue, while Uttrakhand will take on DFA Bandipora at 3 pm and Punjab University will meet Burn Hall Public School Srinagar at 5 pm at the same venue.
