CRPF Football Cup inaugurated

Srinagar, October 14: In an endeavour to promote the spirit of Football among youths of Kashmir Valley, the ‘CRPF Football Cup-2015’ was inaugurated today by the Paramilitary Force in an exhilarating opening ceremony at Bakshi stadium here.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Reserve Police Force Srinagar (South) KK Sharma presided over the opening Ceremony of the tournament. A CRPF spokesman said the Football cup is being organized in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Football Association to gratefully acknowledge the new talent of Kashmir and encourage their passion towards Football.
“The competition is first of its kind as the winning team will be rewarded a cash prize of rupees 2 Lakh and runners up of final Match will receive a cash prize of 1 Lakh rupees,” the spokesman said.
While addressing the young and energetic Footballers of Kashmir, the DIG CRPF emphasized on the noble purpose of this event. He also appreciated the efforts of CRPF in providing a nurturing platform to the young Football players of Kashmir to acknowledge their talent and persistence in sports.
The inaugural match was played between JKP-XI and Maharaja Football Club in which team JKP-XI won the match by 5-4 Goals. In other matches played between A.G’S office-XI and Young Maharaja Football club A.G’S office-XI won the match by 3-0 goals, whereas Solina Football club won the match by 3-2 goals played between Solina Football club and Safallo Football club.
“The objective of this tournament is to strengthen the bond of friendship and brotherhood between CRPF and people of Valley. Also it endeavours to encourage the sportsmanship among them so that youth of valley can constructively channelize their potential in sports activities and bring laurels to their State,” the spokesman said.
The closing ceremony of the event would be held on October 17 and Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is likely to be the chief guest that day.
