DODA, Oct 16: Sports Cricket Club (SCC) Bhalessa and Young Star Cricket Club (SCC) Doda sailed into the semifinals of ongoing CRPF-Public Friendly T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by 76 Bn CRPF in collaboration with Young Star Cricket Club Doda at Sports Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first quarter finals, Sports Cricket Club (SCC) Bhalessa trounced Combine Cricket Club (CCC) Bhaderwah by 18 runs in a close contest. Batting first after winning the toss, SCC Bhalessa scored a total of 132 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Jaffer and Arif scored 51 and 25 runs, while from CCC Bhaderwah, Muzamil and Manjeet shared 3 wickets each.
In reply, CCC Bhaderwah could not chase the target and managed to score 118 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, thus lost the match by 14 runs. Rahul and Muzamil scored 42 and 17 runs while from SCC Bhalessa, Mubashir and Majid took 4 and 2 wickets. Mubashir of Sports Cricket Club Bhalessa was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance.
The second quarter final was played between Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda and KBT Jammu. Batting first after winning the toss, KBT Jammu scored a total of 127 runs. Rahul and Firdous scored 22 and 21 runs while from YSCC Doda Sohan Singh and Manzoor Batt took 3 and 2 wickets .
In reply YSCC Doda chased the target in 11 overs for the loss of 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Waseem and Sohan Singh scored 51 and 28 runs while from KBT Jammu Ashraf took 3 wickets. Waseem of YSCC Doda was declared as man of the match for his all-round performance.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Doda Swami Raj was the chief guest, while Commandant 76 Bn CRPF Taranjit Singh, Deputy Commandant 76 Bn CRPF Sukhvir Singh and Manager YSCC Doda Mehboob Kraipak were the special guests on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Irfoz Rather and Ravinder Singh as umpires, while Shahid Bashir Pampori acted as scorer.
