SRINAGAR, May 2: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas, today chaired a meeting of all Heads of Departments (HoDs) of Kashmir Division at Banquet Hall here.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director SKIMS, Prof. A. G. Ahangar, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Directors of different departments, Chief Engineers of various Engineering Wings, besides representatives of National Highway Concessionaire RAMKY and Petroleum Corporations were present in the meeting.
The HoDs apprised the Chief Secretary about the ongoing programmes/projects/activities in their departments and also highlighted certain issues requiring attention at Government level. Among other issues discussed were the dredging works of river Jhelum, flood spill channel, latest status of snow clearance on Mughal road and Zojila pass besides, availability of food grains, petroleum products and essential services in the Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil.
Chief Secretary urged the officers to personally monitor the progress of developmental activities on a regular basis to ensure that various projects are completed within the fixed timelines.
On this occasion, various steps were finalized to address bottlenecks in the implementation of developmental projects.
Chief Secretary also directed for regular updating of the departmental websites with visuals of the achievements/activities accomplished by the respective departments. He also instructed the Traffic Police Department to take all required measures to facilitate hassle free movement of traffic within and outside the Srinagar city. He also urged the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure improved drainage, waste, garbage disposal and proper sanitation/ hygiene in all areas of Srinagar city.
Observing that regular public interaction and redressal of public grievances is central to any governance setup, Chief Secretary impressed upon the officers to ensure punctuality and accountability of staff in their offices including subordinate offices for better public service delivery.
