JAMMU, July 7: A joint delegation of J&K College Teachers Association, led by Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta and Prof Tariq A Ashai, presidents of the Jammu and Kashmir wings of the Association, called on Mohd Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education, and K B Aggarwal, Principal Secretary Higher Education, in Civil Secretariat Srinagar and discussed with them some burning issues of college teaching fraternity.
The Association submitted a detailed representation to Higher Education Department and stressed for early clearing of pending placement and probation cases. Further, placement of teachers in Senior/Selection Scales was also demanded from the actual due date by taking into consideration the UGC notification.
The CTA also demanded enhancement of superannuation age of College Teachers at par with the State University teachers and as per UGC guidelines, clearance from Finance Department for incorporation of provisions of SRO-222 dated 10/07/2012 in SRO-284 dated 03/09/2009, early framing of UGC Career Advancement Scheme rules, creation of Professors posts in Colleges as per UGC guidelines, rationalization of Direct teaching workload of College Teachers as per UGC guidelines, confirmation of in-charge Principals, filling up of vacant teaching posts and creation of additional posts for PG colleges, Deputation of Principals/Teachers to J&K BOSE, Competent Authority, SSRB, University and Libraries as per existing rules, appointment of Controller in BOPEE from amongst the College principals as per J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination Act, 2002 (XXV of 2002, April 21, 2002) and land for establishing a Teacher’s Colony in Jammu and Srinagar.
The delegation comprised of Dr Satesh Bhan, general secretary Jammu wing, Prof Mir Mashooq Hussain, general secretary Kashmir wing and other members of CTA.
