CTA discusses issues with Higher Education Minister

JAMMU, Nov 27: J&K College Teachers Association (CTA) delegation led by its president Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta called on Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone to deliberate on issues pertaining to college teachers of the State.
Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Secretary Higher Education Department and Dr Satesh Bhan, general secretary of the association were also present.
The association impressed upon the Minister to ensure that the post of Chairman, J&K Board of School Education is filled amongst the College Principals and also the continuity of deputation of college Principals/teachers as Secretary/joint secretary in the Board.
The delegation urged the Minister for an early retrospective placement of teachers in higher scales, as per amended SRO-423, taking in to consideration UGC notification of completion of Orientation/Refresher Courses up to December 31, 2013.
Other issues taken up were placement of Assistant professors, who have completed three years in AGP of Rs 8000 as Associate professors, issue of circular/clarification regarding grant of additional increment on placement from lower AGP to higher AGP in the Pay Band-III as per UGC clarification, extending the benefit of SRO 222 to College Teachers, on the pattern of State and Central Government employees, processing of pending placement cases whose records were destroyed in fire in Srinagar and confirmation of In-charge Principals.
Minister and Secretary Higher Education assured that issues raised by the association are under consideration and will be resolved to the satisfaction of the college teaching community.
