CHANDIGARH, Feb 6: Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan clinched the first Runners-Up title at the 37th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival 2024 organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Punjabi University, Patiala from January 31 to February 4. With this, Chandigarh University has successfully qualified for the AIU National Youth Festival to be held at PAU Ludhiana from March 28 to April 1.
As many as 51 students from Chandigarh University participated in the festival under different categories and won the first runners-up trophy along with 17 medals, including 4 gold, 7 silver & 6 bronze, in 28 categories. A total of 800 students from 18 universities from across the zone participated in various contests of music, theatre, fine arts, literary, and dance.
This year, CU bagged the runners-up Trophy in the zonal championship by winning the first position in theatre, second position in music, third in fine arts, and fifth position in the procession event. The students won seven awards in the music category, one in the dance category, one in the literary category, four in the theatre category, and four in the fine arts category were won by students. Notably, CU Team has been consistent in its performance by bagging the overall theatre champions for the past 5 years.
Prior to this, the students of Chandigarh University have a stellar record of clinching the overall AIU Championship title in the North Zone for three consecutive years, and twice at the National level in 2020 and 2023, consecutively. In 2023, CU won 25 medals, including 24 gold and 1 silver, in different categories.
