SRINAGAR, Jan 19: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the reputed and premier, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior to facilitate and boost the academic and research support to Tourism industry in the Jammu and Kashmir.
CUK Registrar, Prof M Afzal Zargar, signed the MoU, on behalf of the University, with the IITTM, Director, Prof Sandeep Kulshreshtha, in the presence of the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Dr Lalit Pawar. The MoU was signed during the Directors Conclave, held at Gwalior, which was attended by top notch tourism experts and industrialists across the country and globe. Head Department of Tourism Studies, CUK, Prof Syed Fayaz also attended the conclave.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lalit Pawar expressed satisfaction over the signing of the MoU between these two central institutes of learning for reaping the benefits for the State of J&K, which is the pioneering and focal head of Tourism in India.
Prof M Afzal Zargar said that the MoU would open new vistas to enrich the academic support to one of the largest industries in J&K. He said the purpose of the MOU is to promote mutual cooperation in educational and research activities and establish a framework for programmes of exchange and collaboration in areas of tourism for mutual benefit.
The key areas of cooperation would be Joint Research Programme; Joint Holding of Conference/Seminar/Workshop/ Training/Symposia etc; Joint organization of conference/workshop/seminar/symposia/summer school/ training /lectures etc to improve the exchange of knowledge and experience; Faculty Exchange Programme; Student Exchange Programme; Research Scholar Exchange Programme and exchange of Knowledge Resource.
The IITTM is one of the premier institutes in the country offering education, training, research and consultancy in sustainable management of tourism, travel and other allied sectors.
