Cyber Cell solves three cases of online fraud, recovers Rs 1.98 lakh

JAMMU, Aug 30: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu district successfully resolved three cases of online fraud, recovering Rs 1.98 lakh.
A Cyber Cell official said that in the first case, a complaint was received regarding a credit card fraud where the victim lost Rs 65,868 after being tricked into sharing personal details.
In the second case, he said, a victim searching for work-from-home opportunities on Google was defrauded of Rs 50,000 after a scammer contacted and convinced him to transfer the money.
In the third incident, a complaint was lodged about a fraud involving an investment in a trading company, where the victim lost Rs 94,500 as the company failed to return the invested amount, said the Cyber Cell official.
“The Cyber Cell quickly intervened, launching timely investigations through its specialized teams. Their prompt action resulted in the recovery of Rs 1, 98, 868 out of the total Rs 2,10,368, which would have otherwise been lost to the fraudsters,” he said.
