JAMMU, Sept 8: To commemorate Golden Jubilee celebrations of DAH Division, a Motorcycle Expedition was flagged off from Palampur to Khardungla (Ladakh) and back.
The Expedition was flagged off by Major General Amrit Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding of DAH Division from Palampur, today.
The distance covered is around 1500 kilometers over a period of 8 days. The Expedition encompasses negotiation of treacherous terrain with heights varying from 15000 feet to 18000 feet.
The Expedition team comprised of eight officers lead by Major Vivek Kler. The Expedition members will also interact with veterans of the area en-route.
The aim of the expedition is to foster a spirit of adventure and also to interact with veterans of the area, motivate youth to join the Indian Army as also highlight the importance of conservation and the fragile ecology of the Leh region.
