JAMMU, June 24: Former Minister and General Secretary, Democratic Progressive Azad Party, RS Chib said that wrestling is a very popular sport in the Rural Sector of North India. He said that organization of such events in the rural areas is of great advantage, so that they do not indulge in bad habits like drugs.
This was stated by R. S. Chib, former Minister, while presiding over a Dangal event at Darabi Panchayat Shibba (Nagrota) here today. This function was organized by a Panchayat Committee of Shibba headed by Puran Chand, in which a large number of wrestlers from Jammu and neighboring States participated.
The other members of the committee included Shailo Ram, Daleep Singh, Noor Ali, Shishan Singh, Charan Dass Faqir Ali and Bodh Raj. The main fight for the number one title took place between Uttam Chand of Uttar Pradesh and Subhash Chander of Reasi in which Uttam Chand was declared as winner.
