Danube thrashes Simula in JK-UAE T20 Friendship Cup finals

JAMMU, Jan 8: Danube Lions defeated Simula J&K convincingly in the finals of the inaugural JK UAE T20 Cricket Friendship Cup, which concluded at Ajman Oval Cricket Stadium. Dubai.
The Tournament had begun at Ajman Oval Cricket Stadium on January 1, 2016 and came to a successful end yesterday.
The tournament was organized by Simula Sports Club, in association with Ministry of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir and J&K Police Department with an objective of giving International exposure and providing ample opportunity to the state youth to showcase their skill on an international platform.
During the tournament the touring teams not only got an opportunity to play at world famous International Cricket grounds like Ajman Oval and Sharjah Cricket Stadium but also to play and compete against the international cricketers from Pakistan and U.A.E. Playing and performing under flood lights was again a new and enriching experience for the players from the visiting teams.
Ajman Oval Cricket Council lauded the efforts of Hilal Rather, promoter of Simula Sports Club, in bringing a rich mix of experienced and budding talent all the way from the State of Jammu and Kashmir to play at Ajman Oval Cricket Stadium in UAE. The Council has also invited Mr. Rather to bring a team from the State of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in a cricket league tournament to be held in the month of February-March, 2016.
As per Salman Ahmad, Executive Board member of Ajman Oval Cricket Stadium, Anis Sajan, Managing Director of Danube, UAE lavished praise for the cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir for their sportsmanship and talent.
In the final match of the tournament, winning the toss and electing to bat first, Danube, U.A.E. set a massive target of 171 runs for Simula J&K. Shimon Anwar was the top scorer from Danube with 66 runs off 32 balls, studded with 6 sixes and 2 fours. Shamiullah Younis and Mohammad Imran added 47 and 28 runs respectively. Hilal Rather took 2 important wickets for Simula, while Sahil Sharma, Raman Dutta and Sameer Khajuria claimed 1 wicket each.
Simula J&K, in reply, collapsed at 65 runs against bowling attack which possessed international stuff in Riaz Afridi and likes. Rana Dastagir and Zahoor Khan took 3 wickets each for Danube, while Aamir Hayat took 2 wickets. Riaz Afridi and Ali Afzal bagged 1 wicket each.
The organizers of the tournament Simula Sports Club thanked the Executive Board members of Ajman Oval Cricket Stadium, Khalil Ghulamnabi, Aamir Sarfraz, Salman Ahmad, Rashid Ghulam Nabi and Shujaddin Chaudhry for extending support in making the event a big success.
