DB directive in PIL seeking effective prosecution wing

JAMMU, Sept 28: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Rufi Khan and others seeking effective prosecution of criminal trials particularly involving capital sentence and life imprisonment, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Masoodi and Justice B S Walia today granted time to the State for submitting recommendations of the Committee headed by Advocate General.
On last date of hearing, the DB had directed respondents to file comprehensive report indicating guidelines, if any, for appointment of Public Prosecutors and Additional Public Prosecutors and also status of the recommendations made by the Committee headed by the Advocate General
When the matter came-up for hearing today, Advocate Gagan Basotra appearing for the State submitted that recommendations were still awaited. Upon this, Division Bench granted time to file status report indicating the guidelines for appointment of Public Prosecutor and Additional Public Prosecutors.
