Construction of international cricket stadium

JAMMU, Dec 28: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed for inspection of new land identified for the construction of international cricket stadium by the Flood Control Department.
The direction was passed in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Deewakar Sharma.
“Senior AAG S S Nanda has filed a compliance report which shows that vide letter No.DCJ/SQ/Land-Cricket-Stadium/2018-19/6680-81 dated 12.12.2018, Tehsildar Jammu was directed to identify alternative and all encumbrances free land measuring about 520 kanals”, the DB said, adding “in compliance to this letter Tehsildar Jammu has identified land measuring 600 kanals falling under Khasra No.540-min and 541-min situated at village Bain Bajal”.
DB directed official respondents to confirm the extent of the land which is in their possession. “Steps shall be taken to protect the land in question and official respondents shall ensure that the site map as well as Google map showing the location of the land now proposed as well as land which was earlier proposed is handed over to Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi within two days from today”, the DB further directed.
“The official respondents shall also confirm that this land is not within the flood plain of river Tawi and shall have the spot inspection by an engineer not below the rank of Executive Engineer of the Flood Control Division, Jammu and place the report before us by the next date of hearing”, the DB said.
