DB directs GAD to file ATR on Div Com’s report

JAMMU, May 12: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Prof SK Bhalla against hushing-up of Chatha-Sunjwan land scam, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Massodi and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today directed General Administration Department to file Action Taken Report (ATR) with regard to enquiry report submitted by the then Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocate Suraj Singh appearing for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Seema Shekhar for the State, Senior Advocate L K Sharma appearing for SRK Associates, Advocate Adarsh Sharma appearing for JDA and Advocate Rahul Pant appearing for the then Naib Tehsildar, DB directed General Administration Department to file Action Taken Report before the Court with regard to enquiry report submitted by then Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu before June 10.
Earlier, Advocate SS Ahmed submitted that pursuant to the last order of the court, the petitioner was supposed to file a fresh application seeking impleadment of the persons in whose favour the land was transferred. He further submitted that the beneficiary of the illegal transfer of the land has already been arrayed as respondent as such there was no need to file the fresh application.
Advocate Ahmed further submitted that the then Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu in his enquiry report has established that land measuring 20 kanals in Khasra No 1442 was illegally sold by tampering the revenue records and no action has been taken against the officials and the beneficiary.
