JAMMU, Aug 5: In a petition alleging hushing up of a land scam pertaining to Government land at village Chatta, Sunjwan, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today issued notice to State and others.
The Division Bench directed the respondents to file response within four weeks and submit details of the action taken pursuant to Govt Order No. 05-GAD of 2008 dated January 1, 2008 whereby Divisional Commissioner Jammu had been appointed as an Enquiry Officer to indentify the officials responsible for affecting mutation of State land in favour of private parties.
After hearing Advocate SS Ahmed appearing for the PIL, DB directed that the response must give the details of the progress made by the Enquiry Officer pursuant to his appointment. “The respondents shall also submit as to whether it has been taken to its logical conclusion and if not, the reason for the same”, the DB said and directed Registry to list this PIL on September 8, 2014.
