JAMMU, Aug 26: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by one Romesh Kapoor regarding encroachment of forest land, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan took serious note of non-compliance of earlier court directions and directed Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to appear in person on August 28, 2014 along with complete compliance report of earlier orders.
“We would have not bothered Deputy Commissioner Udhampur at all, had she taken some pain to comply with the earlier orders”, the DB said.
Advocate Ajay Abrol appearing for the PIL on July 9, 2014 had apprised the court that one Patwari of the area has raised construction on the forest land. It was on the information supplied by Advocate Abrol that the court had directed for razing the construction. The court had even directed the Deputy Commissioner to file compliance report.
