DB takes serious note of non-compliance of order

JAMMU, May 15: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bar Association Jammu seeking various developmental activities around court complex besides security for the advocates and litigants, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today took serious note of non-compliance of the order dated March 6, 2014 whereby the High Court had directed Chief Secretary to implement the decisions taken by a committee headed by Registrar General and in consultation with the President, Bar Association Jammu.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed, “the copy of order dated March 6, 2014 was sent to Chief Secretary but compliance report has not been filed”, adding “only it has been stated that sanction has been accorded for release of Rs 54 lakh in favour of Chief Engineer, PWD(R&B), Jammu for placing the same at the disposal of the Managing Director, J&K PCC Limited”.
After hearing battery of lawyers from both the sides, Division Bench granted week’s time to the Chief Secretary for compliance of order dated March 6, 2014. The DB also directed Commissioner JMC to ensure regular supply of drinking water within the court premises.
