SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Arrangements-cum-modalities for the conduct of biometric enrolments in district Srinagar to create a comprehensive identity database were finalized in a meeting convened with Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah in chair here today.
Among others, Joint Chief Census Officer, C.S. Sapru, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, all Tehsildars of Srinagar district, officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Police and Education Departments, besides representatives of enrolling agencies attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar enjoined upon the officers for attaining the National Population Register (NPR) targets within the stipulated timeframe in the district. As it is a basic an important work on which different schemes launched by the Government are implemented, he added.
Joint Chief Census Officer, C.S. Sapru explained to the participants through a PowerPoint presentation various steps involved in the process of maintaining NPR.
It was given out in the meeting that as many as 18 permanent Biometric Centres will be set up at Tehsil level in the district to complete the enrolment of the beneficiaries by the targeted time lines.
Regarding the updating and maintaining of the NPR, a continuous mechanism has been formulated, besides catering to births and deaths, alteration in name and address is also been contemplated under the scheme, the meeting was informed.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar who is also District Citizen Registration Officer exhorted upon the concerned officers to update the list of Enumerators within week’s time so that the process of Biometric registration shall be completed in the district within the stipulated time.
