JAMMU, July 2: The Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ajit Kumar Sahu today convened a meeting of officers and migrants to sort out the Jagti power issue.
Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants R K Pandita, Chief Engineer, M&RE Shanaz Goni, SSP Jammu were among other officers who attended the meeting.
The DC assured the migrants that he will take up the issue with higher ups in the Government to find out the solution. The meeting stressed the migrants to fill up the forms as consumers of PDD which was not accepted by them on the plea that they being in exile and dependent on cash doles to feed themselves can’t afford the power tariff on such meager amount.
The JTC representatives led by Shadi Lal Pandita demanded that the power be supplied on the same pattern as was supplied in erstwhile camps.
Desh Rattan president AMCCC urged the DC and other authorities that the issue be taken up with Chief Minister who heads the PDD so that an amicable solution to the problem is found as migrants in the camp are facing miseries due to 18 hour power cut and are unable to pay the tariff as they have no source of income.
Meanwhile Samajwadi Party leader Inderji Labru expressed grave concern over the water scarcity in Jagti camp which was due to 18 hour power failure. He also demanded settlement of other problems including completion of work on 40 bedded hospital.
