KATHUA, June 9: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today inaugurated the memorial gate of Shaheed Nk Pawan Kumar, who laid down his life in the line of duty during Kargil War.
The DC was accompanied by DDC Member Marheen Karan Attri, family members and neighbours of the martyr Pawan Singh, besides PRIs and scores of individuals who paid floral tribute and remembered the valour and sacrifice of the war hero.
After paying floral tribute to the martyr, the Deputy Commissioner said the sacrifice made by the son of the soil will keep inspiring and motivating the youth. He said the memorial is a symbol of gratitude in honour of the brave soldier who made supreme sacrifice in the battlefield. “His sacrifice will infuse the spirit of altruism and courage amongst the younger generation”, the DC added.
While remembering their beloved war hero, the family members expressed their gratitude to the government for dedicating the memorial after his name.
