JAMMU, Dec 2: Deputy Commissioner Jammu today seized a scooty of a 10th standard student, who was caught rashly driving the two-wheeler on Narwal-Kunjwani Highway.
Reports said that Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, who was passing through the area, noticed one Tarun Sethi, son of M L Sethi, a 10th standard student of JP World Public School rashly driving the scooty along with his school mate namely Danish Ali, son of Muneer Hussain.
They were immediately stopped and taken into temporary custody by the Deputy Commissioner as they were without helmets and didn’t have a license to drive two-wheeler. Moreover, the scooty was unregistered.
A fine of Rs 5000 was imposed on the father of the driver. The Deputy Commissioner, later, summoned the parents of the children and Principal of JP World School and gave strict warning to them to rein in their children. He also asked them to ensure that they don’t indulge in rash driving.
The Deputy Commissioner also reprimanded the parents for allowing their children below 18 years of age to use two wheelers.
