DC reviews preparations for Wake Up Jammu campaign

JAMMU, Feb 5: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu convened a meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), District Bank Officer and other concerned officers of Jammu district to discuss the issues related to Wake Up Jammu campaign under SVEEP Programme of Election Commission of India.
Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting that the aim to organize the campaign is to enroll maximum number of young voters and to motivate the voters to go to the polling booth to cast their votes.
It was informed that the J&K Bank and District Election Officer Jammu will jointly organize this campaign.
The programme is scheduled to be started at the mid of this month and shall continue for one month.
Threadbare discussion was held on various vital issues related to sponsoring of skits which will be displayed during YUVA shows in various colleges, opening of voters facilitation centres in at least 20 branches of J&K Bank, displaying of banners/posters at all bank branches of J&K, etc.
Deputy Commissioner enjoined upon the EROs to put their best efforts for ensuring maximum participation of young voters during the campaign. He also stressed for covering all colleges including private colleges for ensuring maximum participation.
Joint Director Information Smita Sethi, Additional DC Sushma Chauhan, Joint Director JMC Kapil Sharma, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr. Piyush Singla, Assistant Commissioner G Shenaz Choudhary, other senior officers of  concerned departments also attended the meeting.
