SRINAGAR, Mar 24: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today felicitated the national medalists in taekwondo at a programme organized at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex here.
The medalists felicitated on the occasion came from six different districts of Kashmir division having participated in national championships in different states across India.
The DC while felicitating them said the taekwondo medalists have brought laurels to the State. He also commended the organizing committee for organizing this mass felicitation awards programme aimed at encouraging them and aspiring sportspersons in the game.
He lauded the medalists for their achievements and assured them of all possible help from the district administration in moving forward in their sporting careers.
The programme also included a skills showcase segment in which the Taekwondo Academy trainees displayed their skills including a poomsae demonstration.
Several personalities associated with sports were also present on the occasion amongst whom were Bilquis Mir (Water Sports Indian Team Coach), Gulshan Drabu (Team Manager India Tennis Team), Maqsood Rather (Joint Sec. WAJK), Aijaz Ahmad (State Awardee) and Faisal Dar (Sports Promoter).
The felicitation programme was organized by the J&K Taekwondo Association. Vice President of the Association Nissar Hussain while speaking on the occasion said the programme was aimed at encouraging and promoting the Kashmir taekwondo athletes for national and international championships held in India and across the world.
