DCC starts hunger strike

LEH, Aug 20: After two days protest, District Congress Committee (DCC) started hunger strike against the casual approach of the State and Central Government towards flash-flood victims of Leh.
The Councilors belonging to Congress party namely Tsering Angchuk, Panamik, Addul Ali Turtuk, Rinchen Tundup Saspol, Dawa Tsering Skarbuchan, Sonam Dorji Lingshed, Tsering Phunchok, Sku-Markha and Tsering Sonam Phyang sat on hungers strike at Polo Ground demanding immediate and adequate relief for the flash-flood victims.
The speakers said that the people are extremely disappointed on hearing that the State Government has agreed only an amount of Rs 20 crores against the larger demand put forth by the LAHDC, Leh.
“Rs 100 crore damaged was suffered in the flash-flood and the Government should release it at the earliest”, they added.
