JAMMU, May 13: District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today started black-topping of internal link roads of Village Kalyanpur with an estimated cost of Rs 12 lakhs.
He was accompanied by DDC Member Marh, Balbir Kumar, BDC Chairman Marh, Surinder Kumar, Sarpanch Mulkh Raj Sharma and Ex Sarpanch Devinder Singh (Raju). Officials of R&B Department were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman said that such significant development works would provide immense relief to the people of the villages connected to this road.
He said it was owing to extremely poor quality of material used in construction, the roads in rural areas do not sustain long and return back to the worst conditions thus causing tremendous problem to the people living in rural areas while using such roads. Therefore, he emphasized upon maintaining the quality of material, work and last but not the least timely execution of the project. He said these should be made the hallmark of all projects not only in Jammu district but across the Union Territory.
The DDC Chairman while interacting with the people in the area, took stock of their problems and issues. They highlighted various issues related to drinking water, power supply, health care, etc and sought redressal of the same.
Bharat Bhushan listened patiently to them and assured to take up the issues with the concerned authorities.
He reiterated his commitment to ensure overall development of district Jammu with special emphasis on rural areas. He assured that besides development of the area he will ensure that the benefits of various schemes meant for the socio-economic upliftment of the poor and needy reach the doorsteps of the people in the rural area.
He said only then we can say that the objective of good governance has been achieved.
