UDHAMPUR, Mar 4: District Administration, Udhampur, organised public meetings for Panchayats of Sira, Kossar, Bain, Mantalai, Bupp, Katwalt and other villages at Sudhmahadev and Bain where more than 4000 people participated as a part of outreach programme for public consultation in development planning.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary presided over the meetings wherein a number of decisions were taken regarding power supply, water supply, packaging of vegetables, construction of community sanitary complexes, promotion of tourism, bridges under Project Rahat, repair and renovation of dilapidated buildings, construction of roads, providing more teachers in schools, MGNREGA convergence, solar lights and upgradation of health institutions.
It was decided to construct community toilets in Sudhmahadev, Mantalai and Kossar; six foot bridges under Project Rahat, one Community Hall at Sudhmahadev, six new transformers and HT lines, coverage of 100% households of Sarar for potable water supply under MGNREGA convergence, Community Shed in Kosar.
In a landmark decision the district administration committed to take up a 5KM road through Rural Development Department connecting 3 villages. EM&RE was directed for imemdiate work on receiving station Sudhmahadev.
Other issues like vacation of buildings by CRPF, repairs of roads and tourism building, replacement of damaged electric poles, repair of Mantalai Ashram and village development were discussed in the public meeting at Mantalai.
Another public meeting was convened at remote Panchayat Bain. Survey of lands identified for Children Park and Herbal Parks was also conducted.
Public demands were projected by Sarpanchs Pritam Chand, Som Raj, Rakesh Anthal, Sudesh Kumar, Om Parkash Atri, Balvinder Singh, social activist Balwan Singh, member Advisory Board Mohd Ayud Betaab and others.
ACD Joginder Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, PO ICDS Sanjay Gupta, SDM Chenani Devinder Sharma, ExEN PHE Rajesh Gupta, ExEn EM&RE Chamel Singh, ExEn PWD Rajesh Gupta, DSWO Rachna Gupta, district and sectoral officers, project officers and sub-divisional administration attended the meeting.
