RAMBAN, Apr 23: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz has directed the concerned authorities responsible for the maintenance of NH-1A from Patnitop to Jawahar tunnel to ensure proper upkeep of the road for uninterrupted traffic movement.
DDC said this during a high level meeting with representatives of the concerned agencies and district officers.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Ravinder Sadhu, SSP Traffic Sanjay Kotwal, ADC Babu Ram, SP Mushtaq Choudhary, CPO Parshotam Kumar, CMO Anwar Bhat, ARTO, DIO NIC, XENs of PHE, PWD and PDD and representatives of the companies Navayuga, Ramkey, IL&FS, HCC, GAMMON India, NHAI besides other district officers.
Expressing concern over the dilapidated condition of NH-1A, DDC directed the company representatives to remove the bottlenecks on all vulnerable locations and take up construction of rotection walls, drainage and macademisation on the highway in order to regulate the free flow of traffic.
DDC emphasised on early identification of dumping sites at various locations. Expressing his displeasure over the slow pace of works ,he said that the public is being put to inconvenience due to traffic jams and accidents are taking place due to lack of proper maintenance of National Highway by the companies in their respective areas.
He stressed for the time bound progress on maintenance of highways and in this regard asked the company authorities to depute atleast one representative with contact number who would submit a daily report on condition of highway to the district administration. He also stressed for providing, erecting and maintaining barricades, signs, markings and flags at construction sites.
