DDC holds public darbar, takes stock of grievances

KUPWARA, July 5: As a part of Public Contact Programme  notified for the district, the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today held a public darbar at Trehgam for redressal of public grievances.
The SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Husain, district and sectoral officers, eminent citizens, civil society members and a large number of locals were present on the occasion.
With regard to developmental needs, a detailed charter of demands was presented to the DDC by the locals relating to the various issues confronting them.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Kupwara said that the conduct of the public darbar is aimed at bringing closer to the people and establishing an effective and responsive administration in the district. Referring to public demands,  the DDC   passed immediate orders for construction of four additional classrooms in Government Girls Higher Secondary Trehgam, macadamization of   the road leading to  Government Higher Secondary School Reshipora, completion of construction work at Government Higher Secondary School Hirri and improvement /up-gradation of the playground at Trehgam etc.
With regard to the demands like improvement in road connectivity, power supply, irrigation, health care, sports activity, employment, water supply and other facilities, the DDC assured that immediate steps would be taken for completion of ongoing developmental works.
He also directed for immediate completion of IPD block of SDH  Kupwara for improving healthcare infrastructure in the District.
Urging the youth to take benefit of self-employment schemes, the DDC said that High-Density Plantation of  Sheep units for mutton are being encouraged in the district. He also assured for improvement of sports infrastructure and promotion of sports activities for allowing the youth to realize their full potential.
He said that DPR for three road projects have been submitted and added that BRO is going to take up the BKC Road for widening and macadamization. The DDC informed that the beautification program for towns and cities is being formulated in the district with the support of different executing agencies.
Besides a monitoring and checking squads have been constituted at tehsil/ block level to oversee the functioning of the Government offices within the district, he said.
He also assured the people of the area that their genuine demands and issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner.
