REASI, Sept 9: District Level Inter Zonal (DLIZ) Cricket Tournament U-19 was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib here today
The tournament is being organised as part of annual calendar of activities by District Youth Services and Sports Department.
The inaugural match was played between Reasi Zone and Mahore Zone. Reasi won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Reasi made 115 in stipulated over in which Naseer Hussain and Ayush made 47 and 13 runs respectively. Shabaz was the lone wicket taker for Mahore Zone.
Mahore Zone was all out at 83 runs and lost the match by 32 runs. Naseer Hussain of Reasi Zone was declared the Man of the Match.
DDC highlighted the importance of sports for the well being of an individual. She also announced to provide sports material worth Rs 20,000 out of Rs 10 lakhs grant provided by the Government for each panchayat for Back to Village-3 (B2V-3).
The matches were officiated by Sandeepan Sharman, Kuldeep Raj, Jagdev Singh, Ankush Sharma and Goutam Koundal.
Meanwhile, the 3rd day of the ongoing Inter Zonal District Level U-19 Cricket Tournament (Boys) today witnessed clash of eight Zones teams at Sports Stadium Doda.
In the four matches, Ghat Zone thrashed Bhaderwah Zone by 5 wickets, Doda Zone beat Bhatyas Zone by 10 wickets, Bhallesa Zone defeated Gundna Zone by 47 runs, whereas Bhalla Zone thrashed Thathri Zone by 11 runs.
The tournament is being organised under the overall supervision of DYSSO Doda, Jaffar Hussain Sheikh.
Around 128 U-19 players drawn from different Zones of Doda district are participating in the ongoing Cricket tournament.
