DDC inspects city development projects

RAJOURI, Jan 17: District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary conducted a comprehensive inspection of various developmental projects initiated after retrieval of state land. Sites for a number of new projects and widening of roads were also inspected.
The DDC accompanied by ADDC A S Chib, ADC Abdul Qayoom Mir, CPO A H Choudhary, ACD Noor Alam, Tehsildar Rajouri and other officers reviewed the progress on restoration and developmental works at different locations apart from preparedness for widening of roads.
A City Park being developed as major recreation hub in the middle of town over an area of 35 kanals at an estimated cost of Rs 75 lakh has been planned to be completed by end of March 2018. Executing agency was directed for immediate flood protection works, chain-link fencing, tiled path, plantation and children play area to be established. The park will be developed in two terraces.
The DDC also inspected the preliminary work started on circular road from new bridge to Tariq bridge via Anandpur Ashram which has been targeted to be completed upto fair-weather stage in a period of 3 months followed by upgradation to blacktopping by PWD. An estimated amount of Rs 2 crore will be spent on the project which has been planned under convergence of BADP, CapEx and Constituency Development Fund.
Another park to be developed over an area of 5 kanal near Abdullah bridge was also inspected. Parking slots planned near Abdullah bridge and along new hospital road aimed to provide parking for 1000 vehicles were also inspected. Meanwhile Municipal Committee will also work on establishment of bus stand and rehabilitation of street vendors.
DDC directed officers from Revenue Department for immediate steps aimed at widening of city road and construction of alternate road upto Abdullah bridge for decongestion of traffic. Department will also conduct a detailed assessment of structures constructed in river bed which are in danger zone. He also asked the executing agencies for immediately taking up works discussed during Chief Minister’s outreach programme. Removal of illegal structures along roads was also discussed apart from widening of ITI road.
Officers from various departments were directed for improvement in civic amenities in town and creation of parking facilities at available locations.
