DDC Kupwara reviews progress under NADCP, AI programme

KUPWARA, Dec 13: To review the progress of the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) and Artificial Insemination Programme under Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers, here.

In order to control Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in the district by 2025 and eradicate it by 2030, Round-V-FMD Vaccination programme has been kick-started in the district. Under the initiative, 100% eligible bovine population in the district shall be vaccinated ‘Free of Cost’ by the Animal Husbandry Department.

Further a comprehensive review was also undertaken regarding RGM, under which the chair was apprised that the district has achieved 82594 (91.77% achievement) Artificial Inseminations (AIs) against the target of 90000 AIs under Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP-IV). Under Accelerated Breed Improvement Programme (ABIP) wherein sex sorted semen is being used, 94.97% achievements have been recorded in the district.

On the occasion, the DC enjoined upon the officers for time-bound completion of assigned targets in both the prestigious initiatives of Government of India. She directed the concerned officers to formulate a comprehensive detailed action plan, with setting of block-wise targets for carrying out artificial inseminations and reaching-out to the uncovered/ hilly areas and difficult terrain of the district within a week’s time. The aim is to improve the grassroot-level coverage/ implementation of these schemes in the district.
